The watch shape takes its cues from the original Seiko ‘Alpinist,’ first launched in 1959 for Japanese ‘Yama-otoko’ mountain men, to be reliable in treacherous terrain. Benefiting from over 140 years’ of Seiko’s watchmaking expertise, this watch is powered effortlessly by the caliber 6R35 and is a higher grade inhouse manufacture mechanical movement. Beating at a frequency of 21, 600vph, it will provide superior timekeeping accuracy of -15/+25 seconds per day with an extended 70 hour power reserve. Besides offering convenient ‘hacking’ seconds function for the re-setting of ultra accurate seconds time, this caliber is ‘automatic’ and will re-charge the mainspring with your movement and is also conveniently ‘hand windable’ with quick date correction. Peace of mind is provided from magnetic resistance of 4, 800 A/m (60 gauss) and with Seiko’s ‘Diashock’ shock protection system. Equipped with an ultra-scratch resistant curved sapphire crystal, it also has an anti-reflective coating on the inner surface to help showcase more clearly the highly detailed dial. A solid screw-down crown and screw in display case back ensure for superlative levels of dependability and performance. The case is highly polished, sealed and tested for a water resistance of 200m and has a glass ‘exhibition’ style case back that proudly reveals the movement within and is secured to a hard-wearing NATO style strap with an attractive two-tone complementary colour scheme, the buckle is a stainless steel Seiko branded ‘pin’ buckle. A ‘grain’ texture style dial is presented in a distinctive shade of brown, consisting of a combination of golden Arabic numerals and arrow hour markers. A date-window display replaces the 3 o’clock marker. The centre of the dial is occupied by a cathedral style handset, providing the watch with a traditional workman like feel.
